Peters’ Cleaners dry cleans using tetrachloroethylene (commonly known as perc). We have tested alternative solvents but have found them to be ineffective at removing a wide range of stains. We shall continue our search however.

We know that our clients would support the use of a more environmentally friendly cleaning method so are now the only company in the region to offer wet cleaning as an alternative.

What is wet cleaning?

Wet cleaning uses water as a solvent rather than perc. In order for it to effectively remove stains and avoid shrinking or damaging materials, biodegradable chemicals are added to the water to changes the property of the water.

We would like to use 100% wet cleaning but not all items are suited to wet cleaning. Items at risk of shrinkage we continue to dry clean. Whilst we want to be environmentally friendly, we also want to ensure that your items do not get damaged.
